It was Aditya Dutt's directorial debut AASHIQ BANAYA AAPNE that set groundbreaking trend of "Sufi rock" culture in tinsel town where Himesh Reshammiya raised to mercurial singing stardom. His third endeavor, GOOD LUCK, a "feel good" entertainer may not be as melodically ebullient but has the desired musical ingredients that can really set the pulses racing. This time the baton shifts to veteran Anu Malik but the results are not as flamboyant as it was in LOVE STORY 2050 or UGLY AUR PAGLI. It scores much better than his couple of latest inconsequential musical releases but the results aren't chartbusting either. It also marks the much desired comeback of Lucky Ali, the Indi-Pop icon who made great success with pop albums like "Sifar" and "Sunoh". After his short stint in Bollywood with films like SUR (2002) and KASAK (2005), he makes his singing audible in a contemporary sounding dancing track.
Sukhwinder Singh echoing vocals in midst of titillating electronic sounds and rhythms sets the tempo for a carnival dancing soundtrack in "Main Sajda". The booming throaty Sukhwinder in Sufi undertones is effective and his loud baritones gels amicably with trendy feel of the track. It makes affable chemistry with slender sounding Shilpa Rao in emoting out the youthful romantic sentiments in aggressive stream of Arabic cum westernized arrangements. It's presumed to be floor dancing number and brings some shades of "Dard-e-Disco" (OM SHANTI OM) but the resounding impact of hitting floors is bleak and inconsequential.
Lucky Ali makes a perceptible presence after a hiatus of almost three years in another dancing soundtrack "Nazar Mein Hai Chehra". This sounds more like Latino stylized masquerading dancing number on floors that comes with fusion of Latino, Arabic and westernized arrangements. Vasundhra Das's slender sounding voice serenades out the desired feminine touches that makes it a desired couple dancing number. Anu Malik's composition sounds routine but adds sufficient elements of amusement in its rip-roaring rendition. Lucky Ali deserved a better comeback in the album but "Nazar Mein Hai Chehra (Hip Hop Mix)" sounds better for its slightly accelerated tempo with added infectiously crooned hip-hop works.
