Rating : 1 / 5

Rafoo Chakkar is a passe, painful, boring, crude, trashy, brainless and predictable comedy. And it’s not funny; it makes you yawn all the time. it only shows a typical 3rd degree, low class comedy.

This pathetic chakkar starts with Millie and Julie (Nisha and Nauheed) who run away from home because they do not want to get married. Similarly, Pappu and Munnu( Yudi and Aslam) escape for the same reason. These four meet in Mumbai and fall in love, when they were supposed to get married to each other in the first place. Enter 45 year old soul sisters Kokila and Koena (Archana and Mita) who miss no opportunity to showcase their black belt level Karate skills. Their father dies and they will get his property only if they get married, which is something they have avoided all their lives. Pappu and Munnu get robbed and their bad luck lands them in a marriage of convenience to the sisters, while their sweethearts know nothing of it.

Besides making a mockery of funny films, it also mocks marriage and death. The sisters get married to get their hands on their father’s property and in spite of being friends with Kokila, Koena, Pappu and Munnu, Millie and Julie don’t know about the marriage. The scenes involving death are handled insensitively. And who blackmails his younger brother into stealing for him? Moreover, we have already seen useless, lazy sons running away with their father’s money in films like Haseena Maan Jaayegi earlier. the rishwat khor officer has been done to death.

The performances are terrible, more so because the characters are silly. Archana Puran Singh and Mita Vashisht have made utter fools of themselves and their action sequences are hard to believe. They are a disgrace to black beltters in Karate. Nisha Rawal, last seen in Serendipity’s awful rip-off Hastey Hastey, has no screen presence whatsoever and cannot act. Nauheed Cyrusi is strictly ok but why is she spilling out of her clothes? Is she attracting directors with this old funda,

Yudi was a popular VJ on Channel V and his TV shows had better scripts than Rafoo Chakkar. He does not look awkward in front of the camera. Aslam Khan has an annoying and stupid character and his ex-pressions are blank.

Shakti Kapoor and Sadashiv Amrapurkar haven’t been seen in a long time. The former looks very haggard, the latter has put on weight and their performances are outdated.

The pre-climax scene has been ripped off cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which ironically starred Shakti Kapoor as the memorable Crime Master Gogo.To top it, the theme of popular video game Super Mario is used with abandon in the action/confusion scenes. The music by Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit) is bad, the camerawork is messy.

Rafoo Chakkar is a 2 hour long drag. It drenches you out of the core. If people are still willing to see the movie I suggest take a few cans of RED BULL, this might help you (to stay awake).
